We’re thrilled to announce that Southern California teachers will be the recipients of proceeds from this year’s Dancescape event on November 8th in Beverly Hills at the Aqua Restaurant & Lounge. This all-night event will feature more than 20 individual dance performances, with all proceeds donated to dance, art, and music projects posted on DonorsChoose.org. Click here to see some of the projects the event will benefit.

Dancescape features some of the top talent in the Los Angeles dance world. Previous shows have included both contestants and choreographers from the Fox Television show SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, finalists from AMERICA’S GOT TALENT, members of the Hysterica, MyoKyo, and blue13 dance companies, and professional dancers fresh from tours with megastars like Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson. The diverse lineup offers something for everyone, with jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, tap, ballet, modern and bellydance just a few of the styles represented.

Southern California teachers are encouraged to post dance, music, and arts related proposals today. If you are a Southern California teacher who would like to submit a dance-related project for this challenge, please submit your project and email the project ID to SouthwestIncentive (at) DonorsChoose (dot) org.

Kimberly Mackie, a producer at KCAL9 here in Los Angeles, has just shared some good news with us – the 2007 story she and Sylvia Lopez did about an amazing teacher and DonorsChoose.org is up for an Emmy!

You can see the story here, featuring Shirley Casallas, one of our fabulous kindergarten teachers as well as our great board members Chuck and Judy Beck.

Congrats to the KCAL 9 team!
