On September 17th a $25,000 grant from the Monmouth County Community Foundation was presented to DonorsChoose.org at an event held at the Midtown Community Elementary School in Neptune, NJ, which included the Superintendent of Neptune Schools, Mr. David Mooij.  The Monmouth County Community Foundation “Double Your Impact” campaign will be used to half fund teacher-submitted proposals from Monmouth County, New Jersey public schools.

Besides receiving a “big check,” DonorsChoose.org staff had the opportunity to meet students from a local music teacher’s band program.  Mr. Palmer’s music program in Neptune Public Schools has been predominantly funded by DonorsChoose.org projects requesting instruments and band equipment (20 funded projects to be exact!). After talking with his school principal about the need to make band instruments readily available to students who could not afford to buy them, Mr. Palmer found DonorsChoose.org as the solution to expanding the music program!

We are inspired by Mr. Palmer’s love of music and his enthusiasm for his students. You can show your support by checking out Monmouth County projects today!

Scientists often make the impossible a reality and inspire us through their work. They challenge our thinking and help us understand our environment and each other. Some scientists were born with a natural curiosity, and others had teachers who sparked their interest and helped science come alive for them.

This is why Pfizer, BigThink, and DonorsChoose.org have partnered to promote Pfizer’s Inspiring Science Challenge .

For 10 weeks, beginning June 24th and ending September 1st, website visitors to Big Think will be able to vote for the scientist whose research and enthusiasm inspires them the most. For each vote cast online, Pfizer will donate $1 to science projects posted on the challenge page at DonorsChoose.org.

Pfizer is also issuing a challenge to viewers and voters to raise $20,000 in support of the science projects featured on the Inspiring Science Challenge. With your support, science classrooms across the nation will be filled with the resources they need to succeed.

Let’s be inspired to vote and give students across the country the encouragement to pursue achievement in science!
