Huffington Post employees recently teamed up with DonorsChoose.org, volunteering their time to process Donor Thank-You Packages at our NYC headquarters for a memorable afternoon! The team, composed of various departments, helped put together and screen student thank-you notes. They got so into it that by the end they were reading student letters to each other and sharing reminiscing about the notes they wrote to their family members during their childhood.

Not only was this an incredibly humorous group of volunteers who make the experience entertaining, they got so into the feedback process that they didn’t want to leave. Luckily for us, Huffington Post is teaming up with DonorsChoose.org again in the near future to support classrooms.
On the topic of the Huffington Post, the site is highlighting “Game Changers” across various fields. Huff Post’s Game Changers celebrates 100 innovators, visionaries, and leaders in 10 categories who are harnessing the power of new media to reshape their fields and change the world. Our own founder, Charles Best, has been selected as one of the Top 10 Game Changers in the realm of philanthropy. Help him become an ultimate Game Changer by voting on the Huff Po site.
THANK YOU Huffington Post for your time and energy!

Phillips Academy alumni and parents sure know how to volunteer! As part of Andover’s Non-Sibi Day, alumni and parents spent an exciting Saturday morning volunteering their time at DonorsChoose.org’s NYC headquarters.
Non -Sibi Day is celebrated every year by the school in celebration of a day that is “not for self.” Alumni, parents, and friends join a project and volunteer to help others. This year we were excited to learn that a New York City group chose to help process thank you packages at DonorsChoose.org.
When asked what the highlight of the day was, Andover volunteers responded- here are some of their thoughts:
- Reading the letters from students and hearing about DonorsChoose; it was great to learn about the mission, see the office and read letters from students across the country.
- When one of the volunteers read something like “we don’t have a pencil sharpener in school” made me realize how badly some schools are in need of supplies.
- Meeting some great alumni and current parents and introducing people to this great organization!
- The hysterical letters.
- I had no idea what to expect coming to DonorsChoose but the atmosphere couldn’t have been more welcoming. It was great to read all of these letters from students thanking their donors - the comments were priceless - I am so glad I participated!
THANK YOU Non-Sibi Day participants for your time and energy!

Yahoo! recently sent a group of employees from its sales department to help out the DonorsChoose.org team in New York. The Yahoo! crew was amazing in putting together feedback packages and really got into the process, reading letters to each other and sharing especially cute or funny thank you notes from students. The volunteers were so involved that they kept on working even after the pizza arrived, although they were still able to enjoy the 80’s music that was playing at DonorsChoose.org that day!
THANK YOU Yahoo! for your time and energy! It was much appreciated!

Club Monaco (a subsidiary of Polo Ralph Lauren) recently sent a group of eager college student interns to volunteer their time to help out our team in New York City. After getting a thorough overview of DonorsChoose.org and an office tour, the Club Monaco volunteers spent the afternoon assembling close to 100 Thank You Letters and Packages with our Feedback Team, which will ultimately be sent off to the citizen philanthropists who helped support these classroom projects.
The Club Monaco volunteers were so moved by their experience that they sent us this note: “Just wanted to thank you for introducing us to Donor’s Choose today. The second we got into the elevator all the interns told me how happy they were that they signed up to do this and how they truly believe in this cause. It really is a wonderful idea what this organization does. I wish my teacher’s had known about this when I was a kid! “
To thank them for their generosity (and to show that philanthropy is always in vogue), we funded a classroom seeking to make art and fashion out of recycled materials. Check out the project here.
Thank You Club Monaco (& Polo Ralph Lauren) for your enthusiasm and support of our mission.
