Central States Deputy Director
About the Position:
As a critical team member of our National expansion, the Central States Deputy Director will take an active role in expanding DonorsChoose.org across a 13-state region. The Central States Deputy Director is responsible for helping cultivate new and existing individual, corporate, and foundation supporters, as well as developing and executing strategy for district outreach and teacher engagement. Reporting directly to the Central States Executive Director, the Deputy Director will share in the responsibility for successfully increasing teacher engagement and promoting citizen philanthropy through various corporate and community partnerships.
The Deputy Director position requires travel as well as frequent in-person meetings with new and existing supporters of DonorsChoose.org. This position is a unique opportunity to be a part of an innovative, fun, high-profile, and rapidly growing organization that is changing the face of philanthropy and the lives of students from low income families.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Regional Executive Director and National Advisory Council to secure 30% of regional funding through the cultivation of new and existing corporate, foundation, and individual supporters.
- Help execute regional strategy for engaging corporate and foundation partners through
DonorsChoose.org managed giving programs: “Giving Cards,” “Double your Donation,” Tipping Point, Corporate and Community Challenges, Youth Philanthropy, and Direct Grants.
- Conduct research to identify potential corporate partners for DonorsChoose.org’s managed giving programs.
- Identify, cultivate and solicit high net worth individual donors via in-person meetings and/or events.
- Drive fundraising efforts, including writing and securing corporate, foundation and individual grants both to sustain our regional operating budget and to support student projects on DonorsChoose.org.
- Assist with the development and implementation of a regional strategy for engaging donors and teachers.
- Independently structure, analyze and manipulate DonorsChoose.org data for grants, media requests, board meetings, etc.
- Continuously track all contacts, leads, notes, and funding opportunities in SalesForce.
- Customize pitch materials and prepare Executive Director to pitch the largest opportunities.
- Continuously track the results/effectiveness of existing partnerships with funders and school districts.
- Collaborate across regional and national teams to share best practices and inform the systems and
process that will influence the future of DonorsChoose.org.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years fundraising, marketing and/or management experience with quantifiable track record.
- Team player with a strong passion for the mission and vision of DonorsChoose.org.
- Comfortable with tasks ranging from office management to serving as the public face of
DonorsChoose.org across the region.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail orientation, personal organization, and ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Desire to work in a fast paced, startup-like. environment with aggressive growth plans.
- Travel (up to 50%) is required.

About the Position:
The Northwest Executive Director will be a critical driver of the DonorsChoose.org national expansion. Based in San Francisco, the Northwest Executive Director will lead a 2 person team focused on expanding DonorsChoose.org across an 8-state region including Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Northern California, Washington and Wyoming. This growth will involve building partnerships with corporations, foundations, high net worth individuals and other nonprofit organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a regional strategy for engaging corporate and foundation partners through DonorsChoose.org managed giving programs: “Giving Cards,” “Double your Donation,” Tipping Point, Corporate and Community Challenges, Youth Philanthropy, and Direct Grants
- Prospect, cultivate, execute, and evaluate corporate partnerships to score branded marketing campaigns ensuring the highest levels of customer service
- Utilize our customer relationship management system, Salesforce.com, to drive team performance and manage partnerships with an annual revenue goal of $1.5-$2 million
- Initiate and develop relationships with education leaders in key markets at the district and state level as well as with our 3-5 national education partners
- Serve as an industry expert in the area of cause marketing
- Manage a team of 2 staff members
- Collaborate across regional and national teams to share best practices and inform the systems and process that will influence the future of DonorsChoose.org
Qualifications:
- 4-8 years of achievement in the private or nonprofit sectors with demonstrated success delivering ambitious sales, fundraising and/or partnership goals, including exceptional strategic planning and operational skills
- Experience in a complex start-up and/or entrepreneurial environment is preferred
- Team player with a strong passion for the mission and vision of DonorsChoose.org
- Proven track record of initiating, cultivating and managing relationships with key constituencies; significant networks within San Francisco and the Northwest region preferred
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to build, cultivate and leverage personal and professional networks and relationships, develop and deliver successful presentations, and collaborate and negotiate effectively
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Senior eCommerce Analyst
About the Position
DonorsChoose.org seeks a highly talented, self-directed Senior eCommerce Analyst to help meet aggressive goals for donation revenue growth. This critical member of the Marketing & Development Team will analyze and interpret data and synthesize information from a variety of online sources, translating the findings into recommendations for effective and actionable marketing plans. S/he will deliver recommendations to the senior management team and assist in campaign execution.
Responsibilities:
- Instrument, measure, analyze and report on online marketing programs, website user behavior, and website traffic.
- Use query and analysis tools to define and track key performance metrics related to business performance, identify failure points or opportunities for improvement, and provide insights into key business and customer activities on the website.
- Identify and recommend changes to improve website conversion based on analysis. This will include creating and managing multivariate or a/b/c tests that drive fundamental improvements to the site experience and working with business owners to implement change.
- Manage Search Engine Marketing and Optimization
- Develop and maintain holistic dashboards by pulling data from multiple sources for presentations to senior management team.
- Work with the technology team to identify gaps in the data capture strategy and collaboratively implement enhancements.
Troubleshoot instrumentation and reporting issues and anomalies.
- Consolidate and validate data from multiple sources.
Qualifications:
- 2 - 4 years experience in quantitative analysis of marketing programs or website performance. Proven results in increasing ROI of campaigns and initiatives.
- Experience with search engine marketing, email campaigns and other direct marketing, partner and affiliate marketing programs, and/or other forms of online advertising.
- Strong analytical background, demonstrating an ability to collect data, analyze trends, find opportunities, draw conclusions and make recommendations.
- Experience with web tracking analysis via tools such as Google Analytics, WebTrends, HBX, Index Tools, Omniture, DoubleClick, or similar tools for web usage traffic pattern analysis required.
- Detail orientation, personal organization and ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- BS/BA Degree in Business, Math, Statistics, Computer Information Systems or related field preferred.

Online Applications Manager
About the Position
DonorsChoose.org seeks an Online Applications Manager to help the organization exploit enterprise marketing applications, including Customer Relationship Management systems (Salesforce.com), email marketing software (Exact Target), and survey software (ClickTools).
A successful candidate has a solid understanding of these or similar marketing technologies, and possesses the ability to configure robust applications to meet business objectives. (Engineering background is not necessary). The DonorsChoose.org work environment is informal, fast-paced, and fun.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Salesforce.com: Responsible for ongoing refinements and configuration of this application, including developing reports, establishing protocols, and mapping relationships between fields.
- Launch Email Marketing Campaigns: Execute campaigns in Exact Target, including test-and-learn campaigns using dynamic email content. Monitor data quality. Run analytics. Oversee the system for users to subscribe/unsubscribe. Identify improvements and draft functional specifications for enhancements.
- Execute Donor Survey: Execute segmented surveys via Salesforce and Clicktools.
- Manage ad hoc projects to enhance the website experience: Identify improvements to website experience and draft functional specifications. Facilitate communication with developers to ensure that requirements are translated to design specifications. Provide follow-through to production deployment. Conduct user acceptance testing for new features.
- Help the Marketing & Development team to plan email marketing and other campaign strategies.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience with CRM software, email marketing applications, and/or interactive survey applications
- Superb self-management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with little supervision
- Project management and excellent organizational skills are critical, including attention to detail, ability to handle multiple priorities and manage tight timelines
- Passion for the DonorsChoose.org mission
- Ability to think through a new process or technology solution, in order to assess dependencies, risks and implications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- An eagerness to learn and have fun!
