Announcing the Winners of PwC Charitable Foundation, Inc.'s Financial Literacy Innovation Challenge!

Share:

In January, we kicked off PwC Charitable Foundation, Inc.’s Financial Literacy Innovation Challenge, and we were impressed by the quality of the more than 1,000 projects submitted. Our panel of expert judges spent two weeks reviewing the qualifying projects, and after thoughtful deliberation we’re excited to announce the winners:

The PwC Charitable Foundation, Inc. believes in sharing these innovative approaches for bringing financial literacy concepts to life in the classroom, which is why teachers who replicate one of these three projects in their own classroom will be eligible for an Almost Home offer. See the full guidelines below for how to replicate your favorite project. In order to replicate a project and be eligible for the Almost Home offer, your project must meet these criteria:

  • Update: Funding for the Almost Home offer is complete, and no new projects will qualify for this offer.
  • Total project cost must be less than $1,800.
  • Your project must have the same outcome as the project you are trying to replicate, though it can serve a different grade level than the original project.
  • We understand that there may be slight variation with regard to the basic resources you request (for example, you may already have certain markers or construction paper, but you may need tape and a cash register), but the overall project elements should be consistent with the winners listed above.
  • In total, larger items (particularly technology) must not exceed $500.
  • Your project title must begin with the phrase “PwC Charitable Foundation Financial Literacy” (that snippet will be removed by our screening team prior to your project being posted on the site).
  • In the first sentence of your project essay, indicate which winning project you are replicating.
  • You must create a unique project essay. Do not merely copy and paste the essay you are hoping to replicate.
  • Projects must be submitted in the Financial Literacy subject category.
  • To replicate Mrs. Brunner’s third place project, you must indicate which Earn Your Future curriculum your students will be completing.

We’d also like to thank our amazing judges for helping review so many wonderful classroom projects!

These following teachers were Honorable Mention winners, earning a $1,000 DonorsChoose.org gift card:

Thanks to all of our teacher participants and judges. We’re excited about the innovative new ways students across the country will be learning about personal finance!
