Dash For Donors: Jed's Marathon for Sandy Relief

Share:

Jed Dearybury or Mr. Dearybury to his students is a third grade teacher at Woodland Heights Elementary school in Spartanburg, South Carolina. After joining DonorsChoose.org in 2005, Jed has had several classroom projects funded. His current endeavor, “Hokki Hangout 2”, requests special stools for students to use during silent reading time. This weekend, however, Jed is taking on a different project. An ardent runner, he planned on participating in the New York Marathon. The marathon was cancelled in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. But Jed didn’t let that dampen his spirits. Instead, he created Dash for Donors: “I decided to run my own [marathon] here in Spartanburg, SC this weekend. While running, I am hoping to raise money for school teachers and students affected by Hurricane Sandy.”The impromptu marathon (map of the route included below) will be this Saturday November 10th at 7:30AM. So far, Jed has raised $2,049 to help students and teachers who are victims of Hurricane Sandy. Check out his Donor Page to see how you can help!
