Mark your calendars for November 29th! We’re teaming up with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to put some extra “giving” in #GivingTuesday for 100 lucky donors and teachers. This global celebration of giving is already one of the biggest days of the year for donations on our site. This fall we’re adding a special twist to inspire even more people to support teachers and students.

One day only! How the #GivingTuesday GIVEaway works

Explanation of the GivingTuesday giveaway

Check out our official rules for the specifics, but here’s the deal: All day on November 29th, every time donors support a classroom on our site, they’ll be entered to receive one of fifty $5,000 DonorsChoose.org gift cards to support classroom projects, backed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. But that’s not all; the teachers that donors support will also be entered in a separate drawing to receive one of fifty DonorsChoose.org gift cards. All prizes will be in the form of DonorsChoose.org gift cards, which can be redeemed on our site to fund classroom projects.Your #GivingTuesday donation to a classroom could literally be the gift that keeps giving if you’re one of our lucky winners!Every DonorsChoose.org teacher can get in on the big day. Even if you don’t have a live classroom project, your friends and family can go to your teacher page and send you a gift card for a future project – those donations count as entries, too! Each donor and teacher can receive up to 10 entries in their respective drawings, and donations of any amount will qualify. What sort of classroom dreams can $5,000 bring to life? That was enough to set up Ms. Fullmer’s library Makerspace, get uniforms for Mr. Reinhart’s volleyball team, supply Ms. Wachtel’s class with a year’s supply of crayons, and outfit Ms. Lukash’s Kindergarteners with everything they need for a fun and healthy recess, all with money to spare. The sky’s the limit, and we’re so excited to see what projects the winners choose to fund.
