Today, being online is part of daily life for most students. Whether on their phone or on a school laptop, whether doing class research or exploring the internet, students need to know how to navigate this digital world safely. This October, Google is helping teachers bring fundamental digital safety and citizenship skills to students with Be Internet Awesome Classroom Rewards.

Teach the Be Internet Awesome curriculum to receive DonorsChoose credits

Google created Be Internet Awesome to help educators teach students how to safely engage with the internet. Through the Be Internet Awesome program, Google’s built a digital world called “Interland” to teach K-6 students about everything from safely communicating online to dealing with cyberbullying. The game is accompanied by an ISTE-aligned curriculum for teachers, free slide decks for each of the lessons in the curriculum, and more resources to help teachers navigate this complex and ever changing subject. Check out the full details in our help center.

Be Internet Kind this National Bullying Prevention Month

The curriculum is broken down into five key themes:

Be Internet KIND gives students the tools to fight cyberbullying and set a positive example.

Be Internet SMART teaches students to share and communicate responsibly and thoughtfully in the digital world.

Be Internet ALERT shows students how to identify scams and understand what’s real and what’s fake online.

Be Internet STRONG helps students create strong passwords and secure information

Be Internet BRAVE keeps the dialogue open between kids and adults when they encounter something iffy online.

All of these are essential skills for 21st century kids. Because October is National Bullying Prevention month, we’re encouraging teachers to kickoff the Be Internet Awesome program with the “It’s Cool to Be Kind” lesson and “Kind Kingdom” game.

Refer a friend and get $25 extra for your classroom

When a teacher you refer successfully completes Be Internet Awesome with their classroom, you’re eligible to receive an additional $25 in DonorsChoose credits. You can refer up to five teachers and receive a bonus for each!

We’re so excited to team up with Google’s Be Internet Awesome program and give teachers the tools they need to help students be awesome digital citizens.
