Hurricane Sandy: How you can help

Share:

We have received many heartwarming emails from teachers, donors and friends of the organization, asking how they can help with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. There are many ways you can help!

  1. Make a donation to schools impacted by Hurricane Sandy at www.donorschoose.org/hurricane-sandy.
  2. Tell teachers impacted by the hurricane how to request supplies they need. You can direct them to this blog post, which explains how DonorsChoose.org works, and the types of supplies they can request. Everything from basic school supplies, to snacks for their students, clothing for their students, safety equipment and classroom furniture. All public school teachers are eligible.
  3. Tell us which schools or school districts need urgent help. We are working around the clock to learn which schools need the most help, but the damage of Hurricane Sandy was so widespread. Please leave a comment on this blog post, with any information you have about schools that need help. If you know that the schools is already using DonorsChoose.org, please include a link to a project or Teacher Page from that school.
  4. Ask your friends and family to donate. Share the Giving Page, www.donorschoose.org/hurricane-sandy, on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. We've drafted some templates you can use for social media here.

We will keep updating this blog post current, so you can check back to see where we need the most help. Thank you!
