If spending quarantine communicating through computers, tablets, and phones has taught us anything, it’s how key technology is to our daily lives. And with tech-as-learning-tools front and center this school year, this winter is the perfect time to learn new computer science skills, hone your expertise, and virtually connect with educators across the country.
For the past four years, we’ve worked with the Infosys Foundation USA to help teachers access CS and maker education professional development opportunities through the Pathfinders Institute. This winter, they’re taking the conference virtual.
The Pathfinders Winter Institute is a 4-day, virtual professional development conference that helps K–12 teachers across the country up their computer science and maker ed skills. Want to learn the skills to help your students make video or PSA? Looking to blow your students away with new cricut engineering skills? How about building confidence in teaching your remote learners robotics? Pathfinders has it, and over a dozen other courses.
Even better: You can create a DonorsChoose project to fund the cost, and the Infosys Foundation USA will match every donation by 3X. That means a $10 donation turns into $30, $25 turns into $75, and so on.
Excited yet? Take a look at the extensive list of courses on the Pathfinders website, then visit our help center to find out how to apply to Pathfinders before creating your DonorsChoose project.
To qualify for DonorsChoose funding, apply for the Pathfinders Winter Institute by December 8, 5PM EST and submit your project to DonorsChoose by December 11.
Don’t take our word for it! Check out what former teacher attendees had to say about their experience:
“Thank you so much for providing me the opportunity to learn about the new Dash simulator in Class connect, how to code with Dash, and about EdTech tools that keep virtual meetings engaging. The experience of learning virtually while coding has inspired me to create a virtual Dash club for my students who will be learning online this year.” —Mrs. Hansen, Grades 3–5, DASH my way into Wonderful Development
“I learned how circuits can be combined with PaperMech to bring projects to life. The instructors were the highlight of the course. An amazing team with innovative ideas and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to learn so many new skills with this team!” —Ms. Quintana, Grades PreK–2, Technology Skills for the Future!
“This year's Pathfinders Event was held virtually. I made connections with teachers all around the United States and feel confident I could collaborate with them in the future. I appreciate the chance to grow my skill set and to be able to offer this new tool to other teachers.” —Ms. Taylor, Grades 6-8, Pathfinders2020 a Computer Science Pathway
