If you head to your local Macy’s this month, you might spot a familiar orange chair logo on your way to checkout. All July, customers at Macy’s stores across the country will have the option to round up every purchase to the nearest dollar, and all of those extra cents will go to support classroom projects from DonorsChoose.org teachers.Even though this is a nationwide campaign, those donations will still be hyper-local. Macy’s will use the money raised at each store to support classroom projects in that store’s local communities. So when the DonorsChoose.org team takes care of our back-to-school shopping at the flagship Macy’s Herald Square store right down the block from our office (and straight out of Miracle on 34th Street), our extra cents will go to support local New York City classrooms.[caption id="attachment_12096" align="aligncenter" width="570"]
Our local Macy’s is pretty awesome.[/caption]Keep an eye out for our name on your next shopping trip, and you can share any sightings with us on Twitter or Instagram. Who knows, maybe you’ll see our orange chair floating alongside Snoopy in the next Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? (Definitely not, but we can dream!)
