We were thrilled that our very own Charles Best was invited to attend the launch of Change the Equation yesterday at the White House. Change the Equation is a CEO-led effort to improve education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). President Obama himself was there to announce this program as part of his “Educate to Innovate” campaign.DonorsChoose.org and HP were highlighted as a way that companies and nonprofits are already working together to improve STEM education. HP’s matching grant to DonorsChoose.org in 2009 brought technology resources and HP products to 1,920 classroom projects, supporting over 92,000 students! HP has also launched a major US-wide employee volunteering initiative with DonorsChoose.org and National Lab Day to improve STEM education."Our success as a nation depends on strengthening America’s role as the world’s engine of discovery and innovation," said President Obama. "I applaud DonorsChoose.org and its partners for lending their resources, expertise, and their enthusiasm to the task of strengthening America’s leadership in the 21st century by improving education in science, technology, engineering and math."
