Ms. Schuler’s students at San Jacinto Elementary school in Odessa, TX love to read. Unfortunately, many of the children in her classroom cannot afford to purchase their own books and instead must rely on the library or Ms. Schuler’s classroom for reading material. This holiday season, Ms. Schuler wants to give “The Gift of Reading” to her students.She asks you to think back to childhood and the anticipation and excitement of opening a holiday gift. Many of Ms. Schuler’s students might not be able to experience this incredible feeling this year, and she wants to make sure that they do. To solve the problem, Ms. Schuler requested one book for each of her students to bring home to open during the holidays.Through this project Ms. Schuler hopes to encourage her students to become lifelong readers by giving them the small “Gift of Reading.”
