With Thanksgiving around the corner many people are gearing up to spend time with their families by eating what is undoubtedly one of the best meals of the year. This Thanksgiving, the students in Ms. Lee’s class in Central Medford High School in Medford, Oregon will be replacing their parents and grandparents behind the stove to cook a Thanksgiving feast.Central Medford’s cafeteria recently received a facelift – including a small culinary kitchen classroom. Students of the school’s alternative program will use these facilities to learn how to cook healthy foods while understanding valuable nutrition content. Ms. Lee’s students are eager to use their new kitchen to learn culinary life skills. Unfortunately they lack the pots, pans, and utensils needed to cook. Through this project Ms. Lee hopes to offer her students the support that they might not get from home: “how they can cook highly nutritious meals even on a limited budget.”Learn more about how you can help these students create a fantastic feast for their friends and family.
