Was your classroom impacted by Hurricane Sandy? If so, we encourage you to request classroom supplies at DonorsChoose.org today. Donors across the country are supporting hundreds of affected schools at an incredible rate. Here's how it works: you register on www.donorschoose.org/teachers, shop for classroom supplies you need, and write a short description of how those supplies will help your students. Then, donors will fund your requests, and DonorsChoose.org will ship supplies directly to your classroom.See our Help Center for guidelines to help you create your project. Here are examples of supplies you can request:

  • Classroom furniture, like desks, chairs, cabinets, rugs, bookshelves, etc.
  • Tools for group therapy, like knitting needles and yarn, comfy chairs, and storybooks
  • Technology, like computers, printers, and listening centers
  • Musical instruments, sports equipment, science lab equipment
  • Books, books, and more books!

It will take you about 30 minutes to create a request at DonorsChoose.org. Go to www.donorschoose.org/teachers and click "Get Started". For step-by-step instructions, check out this tutorial. Make sure to mention how your classroom was impacted by Hurricane Sandy, and include "Hurricane Sandy" in your project title. You'll be asked to upload a classroom photo before creating a project. If you have a photo of your school or classroom after the storm, please upload it. If you don't have a photo of your classroom or school on hand, you can use one of these. All full-time educators in public schools (working directly with students) are eligible to use DonorsChoose.org.
