At SONIC Drive-In, something special takes place every fall. This year marks the 10th anniversary of their Limeades for Learning campaign — that’s a decade of SONIC Drive-In helping teachers and students across the country get the resources they need. In the first 9 years, SONIC Drive-In has given over $10 million to support over 20,000 classroom projects, and we can’t wait to see what amazing ideas they bring to life this year!
Voting Brings Classroom Projects to Life
From October 1 to October 28, SONIC Drive-In lets the public vote on the classroom projects they most want to see brought to life on LimeadesForLearning.com. Each week, SONIC Drive-In donates $600 to the classroom projects with the most votes — giving a total of $1 million to projects over the course of four weeks.Teachers, visit our help center to learn how to receive funding through Limeades for Learning.
Meet Our SONIC Teachers
While we wait to see which projects are the top vote-getters this year, check out three of our favorite winning projects from past Limeades for Learning campaigns:
1. Financial Literacy Can Break Us Out of the Math Class by Mrs. Ford in Newport, TN
“Escape rooms are all the rage right now. I want to bring that hype into my math classroom to get my students excited about math. Students should be up learning and having fun in class. Escape classroom activities are great for motivating students and it also allows them to apply what they've learned.”
2. Give Us Bright and Shiny Color for Our Ceramics by Mrs. McCall in Rochelle, GA
“These glazes will give my students the chance to explore color in relation to ceramic work. They will learn to visualize how the texture and shine of a glaze can complete their work. They will become even more excited about the possibilities available in the ceramics classroom.”
3. Rock Climbing! by Mr. Bendele in San Antonio, TX
“My students are full of life and energy. They love to be outside and are eager to learn new sports. My students have a strong desire to learn to rock climb but lack the equipment to participate. This rock climbing wall will be used by every student at our school. Rock climbing will build our students' confidence, promote their self esteem, and teach them that overcoming fear is a healthy part of life.”
Of course, we couldn’t finish this post without sending an enormous “THANK YOU” to our generous partners at SONIC Drive-In for an incredible decade of support. Here’s to many more funded teachers, and happy voting!
