In June, the National School Supply and Equipment Association (NSSEA) published their annual study about teachers’ out-of-pocket spending. Here are a couple of the stats we found most interesting:
- $3.2 billion was spent on school supplies in the 2012-2013 school year.
- $1.6 billion of this spending came from teachers’ pockets.
- 99.5% of teachers said that they spent their own money on school supplies and classroom materials.
- On average, teachers spent $485 on school supplies last school year.
