During the month of November, DonorsChoose.org Board Member Fred Wilson asked readers of his blog, A VC, to contribute to classroom projects that engaged young women in math and science. The community was successful in raising more than $20,000 and helping more than 10,000 students. Thanks to the generosity of HP, all donations through Fred’s challenge will be matched, and the challenge will have double the impact! On Wednesday, November 8th, Fred joined supporters of the challenge for a Meetup at a local New York City high school. Guests met Fred, public school teachers, and members of the DonorsChoose.org staff.
Not only did Fred inspire nearly 200 people to contribute to classroom projects, he also inspired Rachel Sklar to donate her birthday to help students through DonorsChoose.org! Rachel’s birthday helped bring classroom materials to more than 1,000 students. Thanks Rachel!
