We're thrilled to share three new funding opportunities sponsored by Infosys Foundation USA. There couldn't be a better time for students to explore computer programming, engineering, and innovation.The Foundation launched the #InfyMakers Awards in September and recently added a special category for youth age 9 through 18. Students or student teams can submit their Maker projects at www.InfyMakers.com. Winning students can also nominate their school to receive a $10,000 Makerspace grant. But time is of the essence because the entry deadline for the winter awards cycle is February 1.
To make it easier for teachers to coach their students, we launched a Double Your Impact campaign to provide Maker equipment and supplies. Here are the details to qualify:
- Students must be in grades 3 through 12
- The total project goal cannot exceed $500
- Teachers at all public schools are eligible
- The project essay must reference the Infy Maker Awards and describe how the supplies will be used to help students participate in the contest
Our partners at Infosys Foundation USA have also renewed their previous DYI campaign to support computer programming in the classroom. This year's match offer has expanded to include computer programming projects at highest poverty schools across the nation (student free/reduced lunch rates >65%). Projects must also instruct students in grades 3 through 8, and the project goal cannot exceed $800.Finally, the third funding opportunity sponsored by Infosys Foundation USA is an Almost Home offer for computer programming projects at Native American schools. To be eligible, projects must serve a school affiliated with the Bureau of Indian Education, cost $800 or less, and teach students in grades 3 through 12.These generous contributions from the Foundation are meant to support greater access and inclusion in computer science education and to empower children to make things, pursue the curiosity that is fundamental to all of us, and have the creative confidence to bring those ideas to life.
