"It started out as a wish list item of Madison Middle School art teacher Brady Sloane. Her eighth-grade students had been stressing about projects and grades but still pumping out high-quality artwork. So Sloane hoped for a way to reward them for all their effort. As students painted "happy, little trees" on their individual canvases, made possible through a grant proposal the teacher made using education-crowdfunding site DonorsChoose.org and a matching grant from the Smarties Candy Co., Sloane guided them while simultaneously deferring to the master on the screen."
