Since 2008 Mrs. Martinez has been an all-star DonorsChoose.org teacher. Because of her hard work and dedication, her high-need San Francisco kindergarten classroom has received numerous new resources. Thus, it came as no surprise when she was announced as a San Francisco teacher of the month by Mayor Ed Lee. Mrs. Martinez is a veteran teacher, with more than 10 years in the classroom, as well as an accomplished musician. She uses the proceeds from her award winning CD, “Chickens and ABC’s,” to buy musical supplies for her school. She believes that music is a key element to learning in schools and hopes more emphasis will be placed upon it in the future.
